His first Train Set.
The Myrtle Beach Mall has allowed the Grand Strand Model Railroad Club to set up a Holiday Winter Display in the mall outside of where our club is located. The 16×6 layout will have many Department 56 buildings, several of which are animated. The train is a On30 Bachmann Christmas train set as well as a Bachmann trolley which will run back and forth within the village. All landscaping was completed prior to October 15th, 2016 (ahead of schedule and under budget).

2nd Annual Coastal Carolina TrainFest TRAIN SHOW & SALE

The new By-Laws were approved in a Special Membership Meeting on 10/22/16 and will be effective 12/01/16. Ask any Board Member if you need a copy. The new ballots for the 2017 Annual Meeting will contain any changes enacted by the new By-Laws.
The Club will be conducting its annual membership photo contest of railroad events. Five photos were judged by the membership on September 12th.

2rd place photo: Engine #126 was taken by Bruce Ganas at Spencer, NC (taken June 2016).
The 2015 winner was Don Brooks.
On April 9, 2016 we are having a Swap Meet with vendors in the hall way outside the front of the Club. All items will be available for sale to both members and the public. There will be trains, memorabilia items, building and all types of train items for sale by Members, Vendors and the Club. Hours are Saturday 9AM-2PM. People can bring in items that they want to get rid of or want to know the value of trains.
The 2015 Pretty in Pink fund raiser raised $5,223.00 from the Grand Strand Model Railroaders, the Southeastern Model Flyers Club and Let’s Go Racing in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. A local hospital matched 10-fold for a total of $52,230.00. This will be the 3rd Year of Support for this exemplary cause. All funds will be used to treat women with Breast Cancer who have no insurance or are under-insured.
This being our 3rd event has a goal of $75,000. Last year with matching funds we raised $53,223 while in 2014 we raised $56,450. Times are Saturday 10AM-4PM. Come see the different hobbies and learn how to get involved in the three clubs. Airplanes will be on static display in the mall and on April 23, 2016 the club will have a fly-in at their air field. They will have all types of remote control airplanes including jets.
The RJ Corman Ribbon-Cutting Opening Ceremony occurred in Loris on March 30th and was attended by many of our GSMRRC members namely (L-R): Bill Tilson, Bill Baumgartel, Pete Wheeler, Derek Blanton, Joe Corsetti and Paul Sweeney.
